DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Three patterns were drafted, two for the asymmetrical upper and one for the lining. Top stitches were added using green and brown nylon threads.
FOOTWEAR DESCRIPTION
The footwear is an open-toe sandal featuring a dual-tone design with contrasting brown and green leather panels. It has a minimal, contemporary aesthetic with a focus on comfort and functionality. The sturdy sole provides support, while the open structure allows breathability. The combination of textures and colors adds depth, making it versatile for casual and semi-formal wear.
UPPER: Green cowhide( foil finish)
Brown cowhide
LINING: Leather Lining
SOLE: Sole sheet
Top stitching using green and brown nylon thread.
SHELL: Leather- Sheep Nappa
BINDING: Bias strips cut from poplin
HARDWARE: Eyelets used for closure
Black top stitching using nylon thread
This was my first experience designing and constructing sandals. I explored asymmetry and earthy tones but underestimated the complexity of pattern-making, leading to challenges with time management. Despite this, I completed the project and gained valuable insights, improving my technical skills and efficiency for future designs.
