GRADUATION PROJECT: SECRET GARDEN SCARVES
PROCESS

SCARF AND RIBBON SPECS
Specifications for the artwork created for scarves.

ARTWORKS Vector graphics created on Illustrator in a 1:1 scale.
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT The artworks were layed out to ensure they would fit on the fabric with minimal wastage and sent for digital printing on cotton satin as well as viscose rayon.
The final file sent for printing- 2m length and 55” wide. Each scarf is 45cm*45cm- the standard sizing for bandanas.
Printing in progress. Digital printing was picked as it coud support the number of colours used while also keeping the cost down.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION The scarves were cut, washed, ironed and stitched with a rolled hem and added on to each bag in the secret garden collection. It tied in the embroidery on the bags and created a cohesive story while being a versatile accessory as bag decor or as an hair accessory. Scarves/ bandannas and ribbons are a predicted trend for Spring/Summer 2026.
Scarves presented as part of my jury display as well as ribbons attached directly onto bags.
Scarves- Variations created for the project.

INFERENCES
Designing these scarves as a form of value addition introduced me to the importance of thoughtful detailing. It helped me understand that even the smallest elements—like a well-placed print or a delicate edge finish can significantly enhance the overall product experience. This process deepened my appreciation for nuance and reinforced the idea that attention to detail is key to creating meaningful design.
