MY ROLE
I was responsible for research, conceptualisation, finalising silhouettes, creating tech packs as well as overlooking pattern making, material sourcing, construction and styling.

Collection 2 brief: Create a collection that aligns with IRTH’s blend of modern functionality and timeless elegance. Focus on drawing inspiration from weaving and explore different constructions.

This theme draws inspiration from traditional Indian weaving techniques and regional craft origins, bringing depth and authenticity to the collection.Stamps and traditional woven textiles are the major inspirations for the collection.

A celebration of contrast and craft, this board explores the powerful interplay of red and black—colours deeply rooted in textile heritage. Inspired by traditional Indian weaving, it highlights the boldness of structure, the richness of legacy, and the quiet strength of handwoven detail.

The bold contrast of red and black underscores the collection’s deep connection to heritage and handcraft. This pairing, often seen in traditional Indian textiles, reflects a legacy of storytelling through weave. Red brings warmth and cultural richness, while black grounds it with strength and clarity.

Aged 28 and above, this group is typically in the early stages of career growth—often after a first promotion or job switch—resulting in increased disposable income and a greater willingness to invest in quality everyday goods.

Leather bags featuring a bonded microfiber suede lining, complemented by light gold hardware and edge paint in a matching tone (DTM) for a clean, cohesive finish.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

Sketch explorations of weave placements and silhouettes as well as explorations of different folding methods.

Paper miniatures were created to explore construction and understand the functional details of the bags such as the V gusset.

Initial sketches of the finalised concept.Four of these skecthes were selected as final designs.

INTERLACE TOTE BAG The tote bag features a zip closure, a slip pocket and a zip pocket on the exterior, three interior slip pockets, an interior zip pocket, a wire organiser and a key leash.

INTERLACE SHOULDER BAG The shoulder bag features a zip closure, a slip pocket and a zip pocket on the exterior, three interior slip pockets, an interior zip pocket, a wire organiser and a key leash. The straps are adjustable and extend into the bag, forming a V shaped gusset.

INTERLACE HANDHELD BAG The handheld bag features a zip closure and a zip pocket on the exterior, three interior slip pockets, an interior zip pocket, a wire organiser and a key leash. The bag also has a detachable strap other than the two handles that allow for the bag to be used as a crossbody as well.

INTERLACE SLING BAG The sling bag features a zip closure and a zip pocket on the exterior, three interior slip pockets, an interior zip pocket, a wire organiser and a key leash. The top flap adds added security to the sling bag.

COLLECTION DESCRIPTION The collection includes four styles—a tote bag, shoulder bag, handheld, and sling bag. Each piece is thoughtfully designed with practical interior features: a zip pocket, three slip pockets, a back zip pocket, along with a key leash and wire organizer for everyday convenience. The tote and shoulder bag also incorporate a front slip pocket that cleverly conceals strap stitching, enhancing both function and finish. Woven panels and an extruded base add structure and visual interest, while a leather stamp marks the origin of the weave. Strap designs are tailored to each silhouette, from the V-shaped gusset on the shoulder bag, the detachable strap on the handheld to the strategic pocket placement to conceal the stitches on the tote, all contributing to a cohesive visual language across the collection.

INFERENCES
This collection is more commercial as it features secure zippers, key leashes, wire organisers, adjustable straps and multiple pockets- making it more utilitarian for daily use.

MY EXPERIENCE
This experience sharpened my skills and equipped me to engage with contemporary design with confidence. I'm deeply thankful to the mentors and artisans whose support and expertise brought my ideas to fruition.
