PROCESS RESEARCH BOARD

THEME BOARDCOLOUR AND INSPIRATION BOARDCLIENT BOARD
Ballet Sleaze: This concept juxtaposes delicate, ballet-inspired elements with heavy punk influences, creating a striking contrast between elegance and rebellion. The use of tough leathers, gritty prints, and sheer fabrics brings a raw edge to traditionally dainty silhouettes.
Drawing inspiration from the iconic costumes of Swan Lake, I worked with a color palette of blush pink, dull white, and black. These colors reflect both the soft and dark aspects of the ballet-punk fusion.
The client board, along with insights from the Future Consumers report on WGSN, guided my decisions on key elements that would resonate with the intended audience, ensuring that the garment aligns with consumer values and expectations.

ILLUSTRATION BOARD
Illustrations based on research helped me map out materials and determine silhouettes. I chose the third jacket for construction.

SPEC SHEETS

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Draping the pattern for both the corset and the inner jacket allowed me to experiment with silhouettes and make real-time adjustments until I was satisfied with the final garment.
GARMENT DESCRIPTION The jacket consists of two components: the base jacket and the corset. The base jacket is made from 100% black poplin with leather sleeves and a cotton lining. The corset, designed to go over the jacket, is constructed from black sheep nappa and features bias binding along the edges for a streamlined finish. It includes six rows of eyelets.

INFERENCES
This was my first experience creating a garment as structured as a corset, presenting a challenge in adapting it as part of a jacket. Layering leather and poplin was particularly interesting. The use of bias strips along the leather edges helped reduce bulk throughout the garment.
