PROCESSAIM
To develop a pair of pumps and a pair of sports shoes digitally, using Shoemaster engineer and Shoemaster design. The end goal of this assignment was to apply the learnings of the semester to be able to digitally draft patterns for footwear.

In Alice in Wonderland, hearts symbolize dualities: love and tyranny, vulnerability and power. The Queen of Hearts epitomizes this complexity, her fiery temperament contrasting with the delicate imagery of hearts. This motif underscores the story's themes of identity, emotional intensity, and the blurred boundaries between innocence and authority.

Drawing inspiration from the iconic Queen of Hearts and playing cards, a bold palette of black, white, and red was chosen. These colors evoke themes of passion, authority, and duality, reflecting the character’s dramatic essence and the card motifs.

The client board, along with insights from the Future Consumers report on WGSN, guided my decisions on key elements that would resonate with the intended audience, ensuring that the footwear aligns with consumer values and expectations.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT A fairly simple design with small applique patches was created in order to make it timeless.
FOOTWEAR DESCRIPTIONAn extremely simple pump and sports shoe pattern was drafted using shoemaster engineer and appliqued with hearts on the heel. The colours red, black and white were maintained throughout the footwear to have subtle recall value.

INFERENCES
Creating patterns with software was both efficient and insightful. Switching between Shoemaster Engineering and Design streamlined the process, helping me ensure patterns met the desired outcomes. The types of allowances provided were particularly useful in refining the final footwear.
